STOCKDALE SHINES AT OLYMPIA
Tim Stockdale from Roade, Northampton finished the highest place Brit in this afternoon’s thrilling FEI World Cup Qualifier, presented by H&M, at Olympia – The London International Horse Show.
Ten clear rounds went forward to the exciting jump-off. Mark Armstrong riding Thesaura were first to go, setting the standard with a superb clear round in a time of 36.66 seconds.
Tim riding John Bosher’s stunning grey mare, Fresh Direct Corlato, next to go, pulled out all the stops to produce a breathtaking clear round, shaving exactly one second off Mark’s time, to take the lead. It was a nervous wait in the sidelines for Tim, as he watched the world class field that followed accrue faults, until the German contingent entered the ring. However, it was Germany who took the spoils with Markus Beerbaum jumping a super clear round with Leena in a time of 35.13 seconds to take the victory. His fellow countryman, Alois Pollman-Schweckhorst took the runner-up spot with Switzerland’s Beat Mandli in third.
Todays’ fourth place in the highest profile competition of the show, was a great moment for Tim and the 9 year-old Holsteiner mare, by Corofino. Both horse and rider endured serious injuries in a nasty fall at CSIO Lisbon earlier this season, however today’s performance marked their come back in fine style!
